1. Once you have watched the videos and read the article and by using the information you just jotted down, it is time to create a concept map. By doing so, use the free tool Cmap Tools*  or another specialized tool in creating concept maps.

2.  Individually and in your E-portfolio exclusively, you will show the evidence of the following exercises. 

 

a) Open your Market Leader book on page 8, then listen to the CD and do exercise A, B and C.
Listening: Successful brands.

 

A) Chris Cleaver is Managing Director, Business Brands at Dragon Brands.

Listen to the first part of the interview and tick the points that he makes.

A brand…

  •   1. helps people to become familiar with a product.
  •   2. gives a product an identity.

 3 increases the sales of a product or service.

  •  4. enables the target consumer to decide if they want the product or not.

 B) Listen to the second part of the interview and answer the question.

What is the function of the brand?

Chris says that the role of the brand is to help people connect with it. He also said that the brand conveys the idea of identity and purpose in the mind of the costumers.

C) Listen to the final part. In which two ways has Chris Cleaver’s company helped Nokia?

He says that Nokia helps in to ways:

 1) By helping the brand awareness in the market , also revealing what is Nokia doing for the costumers.

 2) By helps the relationship between Nokia and its costumers.

 

b) Open your Market Leader book on page 16, then listen to the CD and do exercise A, B and C.
 
c) Sholto mentioned some future developments that are:
  •  Techonology.
  • Environmental policy: Water conservations, low energy lighting in the bedrooms.
  • Healthy food.
  • Goog Gymnasiums.
  • High speed internet.
  • Television on demand and,
  • Lower cost telephone calls from the room.

 

c) Open your Market Leader book on page 19, then listen to the CD and do exercise A, B and C.
 
A) The purpose of each call and result. 
 
Call 1: Jennifer North called Cristina Verdi because she is traveling to London, and she wants an appointment to talk about her new collection, both agreed that the appointment will be on Wednesday in the afternoon.
 
Call 2: Jennifer North called Cristina Verdi because she has an appointment with Mrs. Verdi and she can’t be there, Jennifer asked to talk to Mrs. Verdi and she is not available to talk, for this reason Jennifer leaves a note that says: Is it possible to reschedule the appointment to the next day, she leaves her phone number and room number of the hotel, if Mrs. Verdi can’t call back, she will call her tomorrow in the morning.
